Wide (and hybrid) Authors Collaborate!

Welcome, wide (and hybrid) authors!
I’ve been publishing for over a decade, and in that time I’ve been in Kindle Unlimited off and on, but for the better part of my career, I’ve been a wide author. For five years and counting, I’ve been doing “all the things” to make wide distribution work for me, and that means I’ve made it my mission to diversify my income. To find new readers and new author friends.
Let me back up….
Last summer, I was BEYOND excited to host a month-long reading event with goodies and activities only to discover nearly all of my author friends were enrolled in Kindle Unlimited and couldn’t participate, even though many of them wanted to.
Talk about a buzzkill. And if I’m honest, it made me uneasy to know I was one of the only authors I knew that was still wide. Especially as so many of them were jumping back in, full throttle.
I get the appeal - we all do, right? But I don’t want Amazon to tell me what I can and can’t do. And I don’t think you do either.
I believe the most successful promotions and networks are between authors whose readers have the same purchasing and reading habits. Hence the importance of collaborating and building relationships with like-minded authors.
After feeling sick to my stomach wondering if I needed to consider KU again, I shook myself out of it. I realized I was telling myself a story.
“Everyone” is not going back into Kindle Unlimited, and I don’t have to sacrifice my personal values and goals in my career enrolling in KU again either. There are a ton of us wide authors, we just don’t always know how to find each other. Especially if we’re not on Facebook where so many wonderful groups are.
I also realized I was in promotions with a majority of authors whose readers were all in KU. How does that help me? Of course some KU readers buy from wide authors, but they are not the rule or the majority.
So, I created this public, wide and hybrid author database so we always have a place to look for potential promotion and collaboration partners.
How it works…
Authors fill out “all the info” about themselves, including where they sell their books, which genres and tropes they write, their socials, direct bookshop links and memberships (if applicable), etc.
The form link is then emailed to you so you can always access the database (and save a copy now and again for easier access)!
It’s free. It’s helpful. And it’s pretty easy peasy.
Pen names and hybrid authors are also welcome. Please fill out a separate form for each pen name.
👉 Fill out the form HERE.
My hope is that wide authors will gain inspiration from this database and reach out to each other, especially as the list continues to grow - who knows, you might find you want to spearhead collaborations and promotions on your own!
With this list, you have the information you need to start promoting your books with the authors you think are a good match.
Feel free to share the form link with your friends! And if you hear from me, you’ll know why.
Let's make some waves together in 2025, shall we?
