As the world burns, a small-town pariah and her grudge-holding nemesis face a choice: let go of a decade's worth of resentment or perish in the fire-scorched Earth.
After an asteroid knocks the moon off its axis, scientists warn of Earth’s eventual destruction. Governments, Moon Maniacs, and Doomsday preppers brace for the worst, but as the years tick by, life continues mostly unchanged, and it’s easy to fall into a false sense of security.
Ava is no stranger to loss, heartache, and the struggle to survive. Branded a social pariah in her small town for reasons beyond her control, she’s grown used to people’s stares and mutterings over the years. Working two jobs while caring for a sickly woman she owes her life to, it’s all Ava can do to keep her head above water, let alone prep for “the end.”
Knox is country boy royalty and infamous for holding a grudge. His mother is dead, his brother abandoned him, and Ava is to blame for all of it. While he might’ve been fed with a silver spoon, all the money in the world can’t prepare him or save his family’s ranch from what comes next.
As fire engulfs the small town of Sonora, Texas, and nearby cities crumble, Ava and Knox’s lives become more intertwined in the ensuing chaos, and they must help each other reach safety alive. Oh, and there's a twist neither of them saw coming.
From the author of the Savage North Chronicles comes a new weather-ravaged survival story. Skies of Fire is a post-apocalyptic adventure set in the fire-scorched heartland of the American Southwest. This book is a stand-alone, with tie-ins to Waves of Fury, another Surviving Earth Chronicles installment.

This is a great novel from an author who is a master at writing vulnerable and flawed characters. Ava and Knox make the best of the moment when the earth snaps back at humankind. This book is heartbreaking and affirming.
4.8 starsThis book…just WOW! I don’t know where to begin with this one because it is just so impactful. It begs the question of what would you do if facing the end of the world as you knew it and that is just what is happening to Knox and Ava. These two are put through the wringer as they navigate the Earth destroying everything that they know. This storyline is so well written that it brings up so many emotions and has one thinking about being prepared just in case. If you love a post-apocalyptic storyline then do not wait to grab this one for your shelf. It is a must read!
new author but hopeful to return for more books
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️🌶️This book hooked me from the start with all the danger and excitement of this crazy post-apocalyptic world. Skies of Fire was one of the most intense post-apocalyptic books I have read, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. It was my first Lindsey Pogue book, and I am definitely going to be checking out her backlist. The other thing I loved was the cowboy vibes mixed in with the end of the world danger. Ava and Knox have grown up in a world where the threat of natural disasters is always looming, and scientists have warned the world will end. Earth has been affected after an asteroid hit the moon, and some people prepared while others were skeptics. Ava and Knox were tied together from a tragedy where Knox’s father hated and blamed Ava. She is struggling to survive, deal with her medical condition, and take care of the woman who raised her after her mother died. Knox is trying to keep his father’s ranch going and deal with a family torn apart. However, now there are multiple disasters happening at the same time, and they are forced together to try to survive. They have to deal with newly erupting volcanoes, fires, sulfur in the water, sinkholes, and tornadoes. They are in a race to survive and find a safe place to flee to. Knox and Ava were thrown together, but they had such a beautiful connection and trust in each other. I really loved how they were the best team and how hard they fought to survive.I highly recommend this to anyone who loves post-apocalyptic/end of the world romances. I absolutely loved the horses in this, and I was very invested in their safety. This is a standalone in the Surviving Earth Chronicles, but it is tied to K Webster’s book Waves of Fury. I can’t wait to read that next to find out what Knox’s brother went through when there was a tsunami in San Francisco.
Well that was one heck of a ride! I don’t typically read apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic reads but I really enjoyed this story, I was hooked right from the start and didn’t want to put it down! It’s got extreme weather, disaster situations, drama and then there’s romance – it really has it all! This story follows Ava and Knox, who are supposed to be enemies thrown together in extreme life or death situations where they discover that they are going to have to depend on each other for survival and maybe they just don’t hate each other as much as they thought. I really loved this journey, it was exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. I felt like it was a good mix of disaster story and human story, like I really got to know Ava and Knox as people in the midst of all the other drama. I loved them together and was completely rooting for them the whole time.Fun, entertaining and surprisingly touching, I really loved this book from start to finish, a definite must read!
