This dystopian world is full for problems and the people have to be strong or they won't make it. The main character is quite the young woman. She's a girl with true grit! Her experiences knock her down many times but she always gets up, dusts herself off and goes again, never becoming so hard that she can't see another's pain and not try to help.
I picked this up on the chance it was something different and to be honest I was sceptical but I was pleasantly surprised by it!!The main character, Samara, is a tortured soul, but how she adapts and overcomes her trials is a gripping read, and one that kept me reading all the way through.
My first take immediately after reading it is that this book made me sad. Samara lost so much. As a survivor in a hostile world, this book almost felt like it was about migration and how that affects people. They live in this crazy post-climate change world with unlivable weather, and the village is just scraping by. But change comes by sea in many ways throughout the book. The plot was really unique, and I didn’t see things coming until they happened. While the title says “romantic,” I felt like this was much more a coming of age novel with a romance subplot in a third of the book. The author did a good job and the story felt really balanced, and I’m sure it’s one I’ll remember for a while. That melancholy and hopeful feeling.
This was another exciting story in the series and is more of a standalone than the previous two. I wish that it could have tied in more with the previous books but I enjoyed it anyway.
From the beginning I tried,to stop thinking ( I know what’s coming next) then i realised I did not need that and just revelled on each chapter It was that good
